Kristin Worley Nelson · Eastern New Mexico UniversityCindi Jolene The message I got was that we don't tell adults what they should or shouldn't be reading, so why do we feel we should tell kids what they can and cannot read. Is that what you wanted to convey? Reply · 1 · · February 12 at 7:47pm
Pat Mullin · Librarian at City of AmarilloI liked the humor of the Martha Stewart book! My only complaint is that I nearly burst my eardrums when I put on the headphones and started the video. I had my volume up to 100% for listening to music over the cheesy speakers on the CPU.
If I had been doing this, I might have included something about the opportunity to expand children's circle of literature by saying something like "Hey, if you like that, you might also like this", but this is less a criticism of what WAS done, and more a comment on the direction I would have taken.
The slides were displayed long enough to see them, and changed quickly enough to keep the pace interesting. I found the use of written, rather than spoken language to be, ummmm, interesting at first, but by the end of the video, I liked the approach. The "pitch" was obviously to adults or other library professionals, teachers, etc., rather than children themselves, but it appears to be a concious decision.Reply · · February 19 at 11:59am

I love this! The only thing I would change would be to make the slide tiles consistent. I really like the ones with the larger question and smaller response. It helps the flow ALOT!

Lisa White · Canyon, TexasWhat a great way to encourage colleagues to model and advocate for our kids! Parents need to know that even a cereal box is O.K. to read as long as my child is reading something.Reply · · February 19 at 12:04pm
